Students will typically participate in one field trip each week, engage in a minimum of three distinct work placements, and undertake applied research projects. This program has been developed in collaboration with industry professionals, ensuring that upon graduation, you will possess not only practical skills and knowledge in aquatic ecology and marine conservation biology but also competencies in communication and operations management. This comprehensive skill set will enable you to make an immediate impact in the aquaculture sector at local, national, or international levels.

You will be studying in a region renowned for its aquaculture production, which includes the world’s leading farmed Greenshell™ Mussels, King Salmon, and Pacific Oysters. Entry requirements

Any qualification (New Zealand or overseas) recognised by NZQA as being equivalent to the achievement of NCEA Level 3. If you have undertaken examinations other than NCEA (e.g. International Baccalaureate, Cambridge Examination), NMIT will assess your qualification for academic entry equivalency.

An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall Academic score of 6.0 (not less than 5.5 in each band) from a single test issued within the last two years,
