Bachelor of Criminal Justice

The Bachelor of Criminal Justice (BCJ) program is the inaugural degree of its type in Aotearoa. It integrates a comprehensive academic curriculum with a significant emphasis on vocational training.

Course description

The BCJ represents a pioneering academic program in Aotearoa, integrating a multidisciplinary approach with a robust vocational emphasis. The curriculum in Criminal Justice offers a comprehensive examination of the criminal justice system and its various processes, encompassing governance, enforcement, rehabilitation, and enhancement. This degree leverages the University of Canterbury’s strengths in criminology, sociology, developmental and behavioral psychology, policing, criminal law and procedure, as well as human services.
