All candidates are required to: Possess University Entrance through either NCEA or CIE, or hold an equivalent high school diploma from abroad. Exhibit their capability to fulfill the expectations set by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand, in accordance with the Code of Professional Responsibility and Standards for the Teaching Profession (2017), via a personal visual interview.
Fulfill the literacy and numeracy requirements. Submit written referee reports. Comply with New Zealand Police clearance conditions. Disclose any physical or learning disabilities, or diverse needs that may affect their performance as a student.
Please be aware: Any individual who will turn 20 by the start of the program and does not meet the admission criteria may be considered for special admission. Applicants may be required to demonstrate the academic capability necessary to successfully complete the program. Credit for prior formal learning may be granted towards this qualification at the discretion of the College.
International students are also required to demonstrate their English language proficiency by meeting the criteria outlined in Rule 18 of the NZQF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2021 for a Level 7 qualification. Note: International students must still adhere to the language entry criteria specified in Rule 18 of the NZQF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2021, even if an exemption from the Teaching Council is granted.
