This program is essential for developing your skills as a wine grower, providing the technical, scientific, research, and business knowledge needed for a career in the wine industry. Participants learn from experienced winemaking professionals and viticulture researchers, gaining practical skills through research projects, field trips, guest lectures, and paid vintage work during semester breaks.
Second- and third-year students can work as cellar hands or viticulture assistants, applying their academic knowledge in real-world settings. The first two years focus on core subjects like plant and soil sciences, vineyard management, and wine production, with opportunities for wine tasting and participation in local competitions.
The program offers flexible learning options, including self-directed online study and hands-on training in our vineyard, winery, and lab facilities. Students can tailor their studies to local or national contexts, benefiting from a supportive and interactive learning environment, whether in Marlborough or other notable grape-growing regions.
