The Diploma in Culinary Excellence Level 5 integrates the New Zealand Diploma in Cookery (Advanced) (Level 5), which includes specializations in Cookery and Patisserie, along with the New Zealand Certificate in Cookery Levels 3 and 4.

This qualification aims to achieve the following objectives: To equip the hospitality industry with skilled personnel capable of functioning as chefs in intermediate roles, preparing sophisticated dishes within a professional kitchen setting. To offer individuals currently employed as chefs in intermediate positions a qualification that will improve their career prospects within the hospitality sector. To establish benchmarks for professional conduct in advanced cookery, thereby instilling confidence in customers across various hospitality settings.
