Graduate Diploma in Philosophy

Philosophy caters to both contemplative individuals and active participants. It focuses on addressing practical issues and employs intellectual rigor in our comprehension and engagement with others, society, and the broader world.

Course description

Pursuing a degree in Philosophy at Waikato equips you with the ability to learn, think, and articulate your ideas with clarity, engage in robust arguments, and critically examine deeply rooted assumptions and beliefs. The discipline of Philosophy addresses ethical dilemmas, scientific inquiries, logical challenges, and discussions regarding the essence of reality. It prompts essential inquiries about the human condition in the present context, such as: what constitutes truth; what defines reality; what is the nature of the mind; and what embodies goodness? Employers recognize the significance of graduates who possess independent thinking and decision-making capabilities.

Graduates from Waikato’s Philosophy program are equipped with the practical and analytical competencies required for various careers in public and private sectors, including health, business, environmental studies, publishing, information technology, and education, among others.
