The MBiomedSc program is offered at our campuses in Christchurch, Dunedin, and Wellington. It includes a period of supervised research in any field of biomedical science.

Graduates of the Master of Biomedical Sciences (MBiomedSc) can explore a range of career opportunities, including roles such as Biomedical Researcher, Clinical Research Scientist, Laboratory Manager, Research Analyst, Medical Science Liaison, Academic Researcher, Biotechnologist, Health Science Consultant, Science Communicator, and PhD Candidate. These positions span academic institutions, research facilities, biotechnology companies, and healthcare organizations.
Admission to the program requires approval from the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences). Applicants must either:
– Hold a degree from an Honours program or a Postgraduate Diploma in a biomedical subject that includes a research report, thesis, or dissertation constituting at least one-quarter of the program, or
– Have alternative qualifications or experience deemed acceptable by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences).
Applicants are generally expected to have achieved an average grade of at least B+ in their entry qualification, with at least a B+ in the research component.
