Course description

The Master of Civil Engineering (MCivilEng) is a postgraduate program designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of engineers, thereby improving their career advancement opportunities.

The objective of acquiring advanced knowledge in Civil Engineering through this program is to cultivate graduates who: possess advanced knowledge and skills pertinent to their future roles in either research or professional settings, demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of topics related to the design, analysis, and management of civil infrastructure systems, enabling them to assume leadership roles in professional environments and engage effectively with future research initiatives, utilize independent thinking along with advanced knowledge and skills in the development and remediation of civil infrastructure systems, interact confidently and effectively across various academic and professional contexts offer expertise that supports high-level decision-making processes exhibit the interpersonal skills necessary for workplace readiness, aligned with the attributes outlined in the UC graduate profile.

Entry requirements

Students who have successfully completed a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours or a Bachelor of Science with Honours in a pertinent field from Aotearoa New Zealand, or who have achieved commendable grades in the Postgraduate Certificate in Civil Engineering, may be granted admission to the programme, contingent upon the approval that considers the relevance of their prior academic background.
