The Master of Māori and Indigenous Leadership program at UC equips you with the essential leadership skills, knowledge, and qualities necessary to promote the goals of Iwi Māori and other indigenous communities.

Course description

This professional program is meticulously crafted to equip the next generation of leaders hailing from a variety of sectors with the essential skills, knowledge, and attributes necessary to effectively advance the goals and aspirations of Iwi Māori and other indigenous communities. By focusing on critical areas such as social, cultural, environmental, political, and commercial arenas, the program aims to foster a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities faced by these communities. Participants will engage in comprehensive training that not only enhances their leadership capabilities but also instills a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to the well-being and empowerment of indigenous populations. Through collaborative learning experiences, mentorship, and practical applications, this initiative seeks to cultivate leaders who are not only proficient in their respective fields but also deeply attuned to the values and needs of Iwi Māori and other indigenous groups.

Entry requirements

The Master of Māori and Indigenous Leadership (MMIL) program welcomes applicants who satisfy the following conditions:

-graduates of any bachelor’s degree with a B Grade Point Average of at least 60 points at the 300-level and a minimum of three years of professional experience in the Māori sector;

-or those without an undergraduate degree (or equivalent qualification) who have obtained the Postgraduate Certificate in Māori and Indigenous Leadership.

If English is your additional language, you are also required to meet UC’s English language requirements. University recognises the following English Language tests and courses:
