The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree is ranked higher than typical Master’s degrees but is below the PhD level. It is a research-oriented degree that acknowledges a unique contribution to knowledge. While it shares similarities with the PhD in terms of originality and significance, the MPhil thesis is generally completed in one year of full-time research, although candidates often require more time. Consequently, the MPhil’s contribution to the field is usually less extensive than that of a PhD thesis.
The MPhil thesis must demonstrate advanced research skills, intellectual autonomy, and a meaningful original contribution to the discipline.
This degree does not include a provisional enrolment phase.
