The Master of Sustainable Development Goals program at Massey University offers a comprehensive education in the theory, implementation, and utilization of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Course description

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a comprehensive plan by the United Nations to address global challenges and promote sustainability. This program offers a unique opportunity to study and apply theories related to sustainable development in Australasia. You will engage in two core courses that cover the fundamentals of sustainable development and the SDGs, as well as multi-disciplinary frameworks. These courses will equip you with the skills to assess progress towards the SDGs and understand indigenous knowledge and practices.

Each specialization within the program is relevant to local, national, regional, and global well-being. The practical courses are designed to prepare you for a career in sustainable development. The final part of the program includes a student practicum, where you will work in a relevant organization to gain hands-on experience in implementing the SDGs. You may choose to complete your practicum at your current workplace or seek assistance from Massey staff to find a suitable organization. International students have the option to complete their practicum in New Zealand or in their home country.
