Master of TESOL – MTESOL

Enhance your skills in teaching English—or any language—to speakers of other languages.

Course description

Pursuing a Master of TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) will help you refine your teaching skills.

You’ll deepen your understanding of language learning, explore common challenges faced by language teachers and learners, and reflect on your own teaching and learning experiences.

Throughout the program, you’ll be guided to connect teaching practice with research, theory, and the various contexts in which language education occurs.

The University’s TESOL program is globally esteemed, reflecting New Zealand’s unique position in the Asia–Pacific region. Our graduates have gone on to teach English and assume educational leadership roles both in New Zealand and internationally.

The MTESOL program builds on the legacy of sixty years of graduate TESOL education at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.

The program’s faculty consists of internationally recognized researchers who leverage their extensive experience as language teachers and teacher educators to bridge the gap between research, theory, and teaching practice.

Studying the MTESOL at RELC in Singapore offers a unique opportunity.

You can apply to pursue the MTESOL through the Regional Language Centre (RELC) of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO). If accepted into the program, you’ll live and study full-time in Singapore for two trimesters.
