New Zealand Certificate Maritime Crewing - STCW Able Seafarer Deck

Acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue your Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW).

Course description

This Maritime Crewing (Level 4) program is designed for qualified deck and engine room personnel seeking to progress to able seafarer positions. Participants may choose to complete the program through one of two pathways: Deck Crew or Engineering. Although we are accredited to provide the Electrotechnical Rating pathway, there are currently no scheduled intakes for this option. If you have a specific interest in this pathway, please reach out to our IMINZ team.

Upon completing this qualification, you will perform crewing responsibilities within your chosen specialty area, supporting watchkeepers, masters, or engineers.

Entry requirements

There are no minimum academic requirements for entry to the Maritime Crewing Programmes.

English Language requirement:

IELTS of at least 5.5 (with no band score lower than 5.0) issued within the last two years, or equivalent.
