Course description

The New Zealand Diploma in Health and Wellbeing (Practice and Applied Practice) (Level 5) is designed to equip individuals with the essential skills necessary to enhance the health and wellbeing of community members from various backgrounds and circumstances.

The curriculum encompasses: –

– Building Rapport and Relationships

-Addressing Mental Health and Addiction Challenges and Recovery

– Providing Support and Interventions

– Understanding Māori Perspectives and Approaches

– Engaging in Professional Practice –

Gaining Experience through Workplace Learning Graduates from the Applied Practice context will fulfill the qualification requirements through a program that includes a relevant practicum exceeding 200 hours. The Health and Wellbeing sector in New Zealand will gain from the expertise of graduates who possess the skills and knowledge needed across multiple vocations and disciplines, enabling them to assist individuals in realizing their health and wellbeing goals.

*Preference will be given to mature applicants aged 20 years and older.

Graduates of this qualification will possess the necessary skills and knowledge to engage in vocational roles across various disciplines and contexts, including Consumer Advocacy, Disability Practice, Navigation/Navigator, Social Services, Counselling, Iwi Services, Mental Health Support, and Youth Work. These roles may be found in diverse settings such as non-governmental organizations, justice and corrections, social services, as well as residential and community environments.

Mature aged applicants (20 years of age or over) preferred.

Non-native English speakers must provide proof of proficiency through one of the following:

IELTS Test :

General or Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5.0

Pearson Test of English – PTE

(Academic) score of 42 with no band score lower than 36.
