Course description

The objective of this qualification is to equip individuals to become proficient veterinary nursing care professionals by imparting the necessary skills, knowledge, and attributes essential for assisting animals in achieving, maintaining, or recovering optimal health and quality of life. Graduates will also be prepared to practice sustainably and engage in continuous learning within the field. This qualification is designed for those who have successfully completed the Veterinary Nursing Assistant component of the New Zealand Certificate in Animal Technology (Level 5) or an equivalent program and wish to advance their veterinary nursing education.

Participants will gain technical veterinary nursing skills applicable in a clinical setting, along with the capability to manage both patients and clients while adhering to established protocols in all facets of clinical veterinary practice.

Career Prospects

Graduates of this qualification may be employed in a veterinary clinic as a veterinary nurse or in animal related businesses.

Adequate literacy and numeracy with relevant science subjects. Telephone/Skype interviews may be required.

Non-native English speakers must provide proof of proficiency through one of the following:

IELTS Test – Academic score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5

PTE (Academic) score of 50 with no band score lower than 42
