New Zealand Maritime Operations - Mate Fishing Vessel Unlimited

This qualification will equip you with the necessary skills to pursue the Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) Mate Fishing Vessel - Unlimited Certificate of Competency (COC).

Course description

If you have accumulated at least 24 months of experience working at sea, offshore, on a fishing vessel measuring 12 meters or more, and you aspire to advance your career to operate in unrestricted waters, this qualification is designed for you. The program will equip you with the necessary skills to obtain your Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) Mate Fishing Vessel – Unlimited Certificate of Competency (COC), enabling you to serve as Mate on a fishing vessel of 24 meters or greater in any maritime area. Upon successful completion of this qualification, you may return after 12 months to achieve your Skipper Fishing Vessel – Unlimited certification, which will provide you with the competencies required for your MNZ Skipper Fishing Vessel – Unlimited COC. This program encompasses all the training and additional certifications required for your COC, including STCW basic safety training, advanced firefighting, PISC and rescue boats, and GMDSS Radio Operator training.

English language requirements:

Those students whose first language is not English should have an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall academic score of at least 6.0 (with no band score lower than 5.5) issued within the last two years, or equivalent.
