The Postgraduate Certificate in Te Reo Māori offers proficient speakers of the language an opportunity to further develop their skills while receiving formal recognition of their achievements. The PGCertTREO is especially designed for individuals who may lack formal university education in te reo or any higher education experience, but who have significant practical experience with the language and are actively involved in the Māori sector.

This course qualifies for 3 points if applying for residency under the Skilled Migrant Category.
Students who possess formal acknowledgment of their te reo skills will discover employment prospects across various sectors, including education, publishing, writing and translation, government, communications and stakeholder engagement, as well as the entertainment industry.
Moreover, graduates will have the opportunity to participate in the expanding language revitalization efforts of iwi, along with the cultural and historical narratives of Aotearoa New Zealand.
To be eligible for the PGCertTREO, candidates must possess a relevant bachelor’s degree, achieving a minimum B Grade Point Average in 60 points of their 300-level major subject courses, along with a minimum of three years of experience in the Māori sector.
Individuals lacking a bachelor’s degree must demonstrate substantial practical, professional, or scholarly experience of a suitable nature.
Additionally, all applicants are required to provide a portfolio showcasing their professional experience and participate in a selection interview.
