Massey University (Māori: Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa) has campuses in Auckland, Palmerston North, and Wellington. It enrols approximately 27,533 students, with 18,358 of them studying either partially or entirely through distance learning. Research is conducted across all three campuses, attracting students from over 130 countries.

Massey University is unique in New Zealand for offering degrees in aviation and veterinary medicine. The School of Built Environment offers multiple undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Construction and Built Environment and it Bachelor of Aviation (Air Transport Pilot) was the first non-engineering degree to be recognized by the Royal Aeronautical Society in 1998.

Rankings and reputation

Massey is ranked among the top 250 universities globally in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) 2023 rankings and has been in the top 100 for QS’s sustainability rankings since 2023.

The Massey Veterinary School is ranked 21st in the QS 2024 world university subject rankings. Additionally, Massey is ranked 30th for Development Studies and 71st for Agriculture and Forestry.

The School of Built Environment ranks among the top 150 schools in Architecture and Built Environment in the QS 2024 World University Subject Rankings.
