The Southern Institute of Technology (SIT; Māori: Te Whare Wānanga o Murihiku) is a public tertiary education institute established in 1971. It is one of New Zealand’s largest institutes of technology, with a student body of over 13,000 in 2024.
Established in 1880, SIT boasts a rich history and currently operates across five main campuses. Their extensive range of 200+ programmes is accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority and aligned with the New Zealand Qualifications Framework, ensuring high standards of education.
