Victoria University of Wellington (Māori: Te Herenga Waka) is a public research university located in Wellington, New Zealand. Established in 1897 through an Act of Parliament, it was originally a constituent college of the University of New Zealand.
The university is renowned for its programs in law, the humanities, and various scientific disciplines, while also offering a wide range of other courses. While first-year courses are open to all students, admission to the second year in certain programs, such as law, criminology, creative writing, architecture, and engineering, is competitive and restricted.
