Legal professionals, including lawyers and judges, will participate in the instruction and evaluation of your law assignments, offering you essential feedback. This interaction with the legal field will greatly benefit you when seeking full-time employment. At Waikato, you will have the opportunity to hone the skills necessary for success in the legal profession, such as client interviewing, courtroom advocacy, settlement negotiation, and contract drafting for mergers. You will examine the functioning of law within local, national, and international frameworks, while also considering the business practices of financial markets, corporations, governmental entities, trusts, and iwi.
Numerous opportunities will be available for you to apply your practical knowledge to real-world challenges. Starting in your second year of the law program, you will have the chance to gain practical experience at the Hamilton District Community Law Centre, Police Prosecution Office, Defence Office, various city and regional councils, law firms, and other organizations. Additionally, you will qualify for the National Summer Clerking Employment Programme.
Certain occupations require registration by law in New Zealand and certain programmes lead to registration. For this programme, the registration pathway or body is: New Zealand Law Society.

As an international student studying at undergraduate level, you are required to meet academic and English language entry requirements.
