Course description

The International Maritime Institute of New Zealand (IMINZ), situated in Nelson, operates under the auspices of the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT). Since its inception in 1976 as the New Zealand School of Fisheries, we have been dedicated to the education and training of exceptional seafarers. IMINZ provides a variety of qualifications tailored for both novice and seasoned maritime professionals.

This program is designed for mariners who fulfill the criteria set by Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) to apply for the Watchkeeper Deck Certificate of Competency. Additionally, this qualification is recognized as a program for the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) certificate STCW II/1 Officer of the Watch (OOW).

Qualification at NCEA Level 2 OR Qualification on the NZQF at Level 4 or above in a related discipline.
