The Graduate Diploma in Quantity Surveying builds your expertise with specialised skills for effective cost management and project planning in construction. You’ll strengthen your technical, legal, and applied knowledge while learning to provide strategic financial advice and assess risks across a project’s lifecycle. A hands-on industry project develops your research and critical thinking skills.
This programme is ideal for degree-qualified professionals, such as architectural technologists or civil engineers, seeking to transition into quantity surveying. Graduates may become eligible for full membership with the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors after two years of relevant work experience.
Graduates will be equipped to work at middle management level within the construction industry. Potential roles include:

-Estimator/Cost planner
-Procurement Manager
-Construction Cost Manager
Following the Graduate Diploma in Construction Management, students can also pursue further tertiary study at post graduate level in the fields of construction management, project management or building science.
Academic requirements:
-A relevant New Zealand Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field, for example; BCon, BEng, BEngTech, BArch, BAS, or equivalent.
English requirements:
If English is not the first language, students must provide a result from a test or qualification on the acceptable alternatives.

IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form and are valid for two years from the date of the test.
