Science, technology, and healthcare are immensely powerful tools that present both ethical and legal challenges and opportunities.

Bioethics examines the current and future impacts of biosciences and healthcare on people, society, animals, and the environment. It seeks to determine the appropriate responses for individuals, professionals, and society as a whole.

The Master of Bioethics and Health Law (MBHL) is an interdisciplinary postgraduate program that involves writing a research dissertation under supervision and completing additional coursework worth 120 points. The degree can be awarded with distinction or credit and integrates resources from both ethical and legal theory.

Entry requirements

Admission to the program is subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences).

Applicants must hold a postgraduate diploma, a graduate degree with honors, or a four-year undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Typically, candidates should have completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Bioethics and Health Law (PGDipBHL) or an equivalent qualification, with an average grade of at least B across all papers.

Additionally, all applicants must demonstrate the ability to undertake advanced-level academic study.
