Select a research project in a health-related field that aligns with the Faculty’s research expertise and profile. The Master of Health Research can also be pursued with a specialization in Nursing or Midwifery.
You will concentrate on the practice of research and the development of theory related to health and wellbeing, healthcare, or health outcomes. Your thesis should showcase the generation and synthesis of knowledge, contributing meaningfully to your chosen area of interest.
To be eligible for entry, you must have a Bachelor’s degree with Honours or a postgraduate qualification in a health-related discipline, along with significant relevant professional experience.
If you are applying for a specialization in Nursing or Midwifery, you will also need professional registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand or the Midwifery Council of New Zealand.

Graduates of the Master of Health Research program have a wide array of career prospects. Potential job titles include Health Researcher, Clinical Research Coordinator, Public Health Analyst, Health Policy Advisor, Epidemiologist, Biostatistician, Health Data Analyst, and Academic Researcher. Graduates may also pursue roles as Project Managers in health research organizations, Research and Development Specialists in healthcare companies, or Program Evaluators in government and non-profit organizations. These positions allow professionals to contribute to the advancement of healthcare knowledge and practice in various settings, including universities, hospitals, research institutes, government agencies, and private industry.
