Prepare yourself with the essential technical and practical skills necessary for a successful career in the outdoor and adventure tourism sector. Engage in hands-on experiences for 80% of your studies, participating in activities such as hiking, rafting, whitewater kayaking, rock climbing, sea kayaking, skiing, snowboarding, and canyoning. Allow the varied landscapes of Te Tauihu to serve as your inspiring outdoor classroom. You will encounter real-world scenarios that will enhance your confidence as a guide. Multi-day expeditions and instructional trips are integral elements of the educational program.
Nelson campus is conveniently situated near three national parks, as well as rivers, ski areas, and caves that are globally recognized by adventure enthusiasts.
Career oppurtunities include Outdoor Recreation Guide or Instructor in the fields of:
Rafting
Sea Kayaking
Hiking, tramping and bush walking
Snowboarding or skiing

Outdoor educator
Adventure based learning
Qualification at NCEA Level 1 literacy credits and 10 NCEA Level 1 numeracy credits.
English Language requirement:
IELTS 5.5 General or Academic (no lower than 5.0 in any subtest)
