Course description

The 180 credit curriculum mandates that students acquire no fewer than 45 credits at Level 9, with the balance of credits at Level 8. Conversely, students pursuing the 240 credit curriculum must fulfill the requirement of completing four additional modules at Level 8.

The master’s curriculum is structured to encompass a wide array of business disciplines, covering eight professional competencies that reflect essential technical skills, along with two primary focus areas and three available pathways.

The curriculum is structured to encompass a wide array of business disciplines, covering eight professional competencies that reflect essential technical skills, along with two primary focus areas and three available pathways. The eight professional competencies consist of:

– financial management, market analysis, workforce and cultural dynamics, strategic planning, technological integration, innovation management, global business strategies, sustainable development.

The program emphasizes two focus areas:  sustainable business and small to medium enterprises. Students may choose from three distinct pathways:

-Coursework: A variety of modules are provided for you to expand your professional knowledge and skills.

– Industry integrated (professional practice): Specifically designed to fulfill both your and your organization’s developmental goals.

Research: Enables you to conduct a significant applied research project, enhancing your research skills and practical understanding. These pathways underscore the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings while concentrating on specific management aspects through a series of applied research projects.

Entry requirements

The 240 credit programme applicants are required to have:

– An undergraduate degree from a New Zealand Institution or an approved equivalent; or
-At the Dean’s discretion, where an applicant’s situation is compelling but not covered by the requirements listed above.

For the 180 credit programme applicants are required to have:

-An undergraduate degree from a New Zealand Institution in the business or management field with a minimum of the equivalent to a B average; or
-A Bachelor Honours or Postgraduate degree in the Business or Management field with 120 credits at Level 8; or
-A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a related field with a minimum of the equivalent to a B average and evidence of management experience at degree level, subject to assessment by the Programme Coordinator; or
-At the Dean’s discretion, where an applicant’s situation is compelling but not covered by the requirements listed above.
