The Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) (MNSc (Pre-reg)) program spans four semesters over a two-year period. This program offers students with a health-related degree a direct and expedited pathway to a nursing career. Upon successful completion, graduates will receive a Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) and will be eligible to apply to the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) to take the State Final Examination, thereby qualifying as registered nurses.
The program is specifically designed for graduates aspiring to enter the nursing profession. It is anticipated that the inclusion of students from diverse health-related backgrounds will enrich the learning environment and promote values of manākitanga and whakawhanaungatanga. The curriculum incorporates integrated clinical experiences that foster practical skills, with a focus on cultivating culturally responsive, work-ready nurses who are adept at collaborating across disciplines to address the healthcare needs of Māori, Pacific, rural, and remote communities, as well as their families.
