Entry requirements

Academic requirements:

Students must possess:

i. an undergraduate degree deemed relevant by the Programme Manager, or
ii. a qualification recognized as equivalent by the Programme Manager.

b) Applicants lacking a relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification may present a portfolio, and if their application is successful, they may be admitted on an ad eundum statem basis.

c) Applicants for the Postgraduate Diploma in Health and Social Practice (Professional Supervision) and the Postgraduate Certificates in Professional Supervision must have at least two years of post-qualifying experience in their professional field or an equivalent. This requirement acknowledges the necessity for candidates to have solidified and advanced their practice to a level adequate for assuming the role of supervisor for others.

d) Applicants for the Postgraduate Diploma in Health and Social Practice (Midwifery) and the Postgraduate Certificate in Midwifery must:

i. be registered with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand; and
ii. possess a current Annual Practising Certificate; and
iii. have a minimum of one year of post-qualifying experience in midwifery practice (or an equivalent as approved by the selection committee); and
iv. maintain an average practice of at least 16 hours per week over the course of a year.

English Language requirement:

Students whose primary language is not English must obtain a score of 7 or higher in all sections of the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or an equivalent assessment. Additionally, they will need to provide evidence of their potential to successfully meet the learning outcomes of the program.
