​Established in 1896, UCOL (Universal College of Learning) is a prominent government-funded Institute of Technology and Polytechnic in New Zealand. Over the years, UCOL has evolved through various name changes, reflecting its growth and commitment to education. Initially founded as the Palmerston North Technical School, it became the Palmerston North Technical Institute in 1971, the Manawatu Polytechnic in 1983, and adopted the name Universal College of Learning in 1998. ​
