The Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy Studies is tailored for health professionals, volunteers, and those aspiring to become psychotherapists, emphasizing a comprehensive understanding of human experiences and behaviors. This diploma represents the initial phase of AUT’s integrated psychotherapy program, which ultimately qualifies individuals as entry-level psychotherapists. Graduates who proceed to earn the Master of Psychotherapy are eligible to apply for provisional membership with the New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists and can work under an interim scope of practice with the Psychotherapists Board of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Graduates can gain experience in Entry-level psychotherapy roles, mental-health settings.
Minimum entry requirements
-A bachelor’s degree OR relevant professional qualification or experience approved by the Dean (or representative) to be equivalent to a bachelor’s degree
English language requirements
-IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with all bands 6.0 or higher; or equivalent.
